The Humboldt District Health Complex is an acute care facility with 42 patient beds. This 80,000 ft² building demanded careful pre-planning with respect to constructability due to the long delivery times of some of the specialty mechanical systems. Given the nature of this facility, quality control had to be at a maximum as turnover of the project could not occur until total performance of the contract. This challenge was met with weekly subtrade meetings involving careful review of owner requirements, manpower, milestone dates and detailed General Contractor inspection/deficiency reports. The building consisted of acute-care services including an expanded service for ambulatory care, diagnostic and lab services, chemotherapy, mental health, addiction services and clinic space for visiting specialists.
