Health, Safety & Environment

Wright Construction is committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees and those affected by and participating in our work activities. We believe it is imperative that all safety measures and precautions are taken seriously on our road to mission zero. Our clean and safe work sites promote a culture of shared responsibility to ensure productivity goals are achieved for our clients while being a “good neighbor” to those surrounding our construction sites.

We are compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety conditions and we strive to sustain a safe workplace that is managed by all levels of authority on each project. Through implementation of policies, the review and auditing of those policies, enforcement and ongoing communication we keep safety at the forefront and on the minds of the entire project team, building and maintaining a safety culture where all project team members work towards zero injuries.

Wright Construction is committed to providing the correct equipment and tools, up to date training and ongoing education and enforcement of our safety policies to ensure our safety culture extends beyond the work site and to employees home life, family and friends.

Estimating

Our experienced estimating team will work closely with the Owner and Consulting group from the beginning to develop and maintain a control budget, cash flow schedule, project schedule and provide technical input into the development of the drawings and specifications.

With the project objectives in mind, consideration is given to the location of the project, time of year construction, current market activity, material and trade selection. Our knowledge of the local markets, relationships with local trades and authorities and our systematic phased tendering system can be leveraged to ensure success of your project.

Our team can provide high level budgeting based on our extensive database of historical data and experience in multiple sectors of the construction industry. Detailed estimates and fixed budgets can be established using our computer aided take off and updated costing databases to ensure accuracy.

Project Management

Wright Construction has developed and implemented our own in-house system of project management policies and procedures. We use computer based software for documenting the flow of critical project information (submittals, changes, RFIs, meeting minutes).

We also introduce other specialized tools to help control the flow of information and ensure quality and efficiency throughout the construction process, commissioning phases and turnover.

Value Engineering

Knowledge of the local industry, previous experience, innovation and collaboration are essential to the successful value of engineering of a project and Wright Construction has the require resources and expertise to bring value engineering to any project.

Whether acting as a General Contractor, Construction Manager or Design Builder we believe as a project team member we should;

  • Ensure details designed are constructible in the field.
  • Recommend changes to eliminate conflict or improve clarity of the drawings.
  • Provide alternate solutions complete with pricing and effects on schedule.
  • Provide techniques and pricing for site specific conditions. Ie. Shoring solutions.
  • Provide guidance on Subtrade and material selection as it relates to the market, site conditions, budget and time of year.
  • Ensure value for money.

Pre-Construction

During pre-construction, all goals and objectives of the project are clearly defined and communicated to all stakeholders. A transparent system of communication and collaboration is coordinated through defined levels of authority, processes and procedures.

Sustainability Solutions

Wright Construction has been involved in a number of sustainability, LEED and Green Globe projects. Our qualified staff play an important role in ensuring that things such as Low VOC products, Recycled and Regional Materials and Certified Wood products are used as required to meet sustainability standards on each project. We also coordinate and monitor Waste Management requirements to ensure waste diversion goals are achieved.

We have developed new procedures on site and in office to complement our existing procedures to help reduce waste and promote sustainability. We utilize many erosion control measures to meet the sustainability requirements of each project. Methods such as silt fence installation, gravel mats and wheel washing at site entrance and exits, and covering stockpiled materials are applied for the duration of construction.

When it comes to waste management, Wright makes every effort to reuse and recycle building materials where possible. Through our past projects we have developed relationships with even more companies to increase the amount of recycling on our projects.

A clean working environment is essential during construction and indoor air quality is closely monitored. Wright utilizes vacuums with HEPA filters, wet mops and sweeping compounds for cleanup each day while mechanical trades seal open ductwork to eliminate re-circulation of dust. We aim to schedule installation of absorptive materials such as carpet and other fabric textiles at the end of the project or implement source controls to protect materials installed and enforce any requirements of using low VOC products.

Here at Wright, sustainability is an increasingly important requirement in construction and as a General Contractor, we believe that ongoing efforts and education are required to improve and develop strategies to promote this philosophy.

Website Collaborator & Plans Room

Wright Construction are pioneers in this province when it comes to adopting new technologies. Early on, Wright moved to a web based support system for the sharing and control of documents. This online system provides access for all critical documents in a readily available location. These documents can include drawings, contract changes, requests for information, shop drawings, meeting minutes, inspection reports, site photos and important contact information.

Adopting a web based support system has expedited the proper flow of documentation. Documents are always available which removes delays from the simple act of tracking down information. This is a critical communication tool that is a requirement for any size of project.
