The Collaborative Science Research Building is the new home for professors, grad students, and technicians from all disciplines of the university’s science community. Standing at four stories tall, it features a rooftop greenhouse, three floors of technical research laboratories, and a vivarium area for research and analysis.
This facility includes complex mechanical and electrical systems distributed over 4 floors of classrooms, labs, and office space. This project is located on campus with a tight laydown area and is connected to another building which included light renovations. The surrounding facilities were in full operation during the renovation.
The intent of this project was to provide new lab facilities for the University, and Wright worked with project stakeholders through a phased completion of the design. Wright also proposed alternative construction techniques for the foundation systems to start construction earlier while the remaining design was completed and tendered.
