Churchhill Community High School

The intent of this LEED silver project was to provide a renewed High School for the La Ronge Community, located 380km north of Saskatoon. The project included abatement and renovation to the original school built in the 1950s followed by the demolition of a previous renovation completed in the 1980s. A major addition to the existing High School was completed and the facility included a full size gymnasium, theater, library, childcare facility, dental service area, as well as upgraded classroom and lab spaces. The foundation of the school was on bedrock and required blasting for the installation of the new foundations and required plumbing. The school construction consisted of concrete foundations, masonry, structural steel, glulam and metal cladding. Interior construction included steel studs, drywall, vinyl and ceramic flooring, millwork and typical school specialties(bleachers, library shelving, etc). The project was complete in 5 phases and full operation of the school was maintained throughout the project.
