Using the GORE® Cover Technology, this leading-edge facility collects yard and food waste out of the traditional waste stream and is then processed to produce a rich organic material that can be used as an additive to topsoil. Materials sorting and initial processing occurs within the 13,125 square foot pre-engineered steel tipping building. The various stages of composting take place in 35,424 square foot cast in place concrete bunkers along with 2,400 square foot masonry “doghouses”. During the design phase Wright was responsible for the pre-engineered steel structures and concrete foundations. During construction, overall construction responsibilities were assigned to Wright while testing, inspection, and environmental compliance was outsourced. This was a successful project using the Design Build method.
